Public Meetings
Current Public Meetings & Open Public Comment Periods
In accordance with the Legislative Procedures Act, the Legislative Operating Committee is required to host a public meeting and open a public comment period on each proposal to adopt, amend, or repeal an Oneida law or policy.
Leasing Law Rule No. 2 – Agricultural Leases Amendments
- Land Management and the Oneida Land Commission will be holding a public meeting for the proposed amendments to the Leasing Law Rule No. 2 – Agricultural Leases on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Little Bear Development Center Conference Room.
- Written comments on the proposed amendments to the Leasing Law Rule No. 2 – Agricultural Leases can be submitted through Wednesday, April 16, 2025, to Land Management in person, or by U.S. mail, interoffice mail, e-mail or fax. Written comments can be submitted through email to Land Management at shunting@oneidanation.org.

Community Outreach Events
The LOC holds community outreach events in an effort to collect thoughts and ideas from the community at the beginning of the legislative process. When the LOC feels that the community may have a particular interest in proposed legislation these events are held in addition to the formal public meetings required by the Legislative Procedures Act.
LOC Community Work Session: Sanctions and Penalties Law
- The LOC will be holding a community work session on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Norbert Hill Center’s Business Committee Conference Room and on Microsoft Teams.
- The purpose of this community work session is to allow individuals to join the LOC in a line-by-line review of the proposed Sanctions and Penalties law for the purpose of discussing the proposed law and any questions the community may have.
