Current Public Meetings & Open Public Comment Periods

In accordance with the Legislative Procedures Act, the Legislative Operating Committee is required to host a public meeting and open a public comment period on each proposal to adopt, amend, or repeal an Oneida law or policy.

Oneida Life Insurance Plan Law Amendments

• A public meeting for the proposed amendments to the Oneida Life Insurance Plan law will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 12:15 p.m. in the Norbert Hill Center’s Business Committee conference room. Please arrive by 12:15 p.m. if you plan to submit oral comments. Individuals may also access the public meeting through Microsoft Teams.
• Written comments on the proposed amendments to the Oneida Life Insurance Plan law can be submitted through Friday, November 22, 2024, to the Office of the Nation’s Secretary or the Legislative Reference Office in person, or by U.S. mail, interoffice mail, e-mail or fax. Written comments can be submitted through email to the LOC at LOC@oneidanation.org.

Real Property Law Administrative Rules Public Meeting: Land Assessments for the Nation’s Decisionmaker’s to Build an Autonomous Community, Land Use Licenses, and Easements

• The Environmental, Health, Safety, Land, and Agriculture Commission, the General Manager, along with the Oneida Land Commission will be holding a public meeting for three (3) proposed new rules to the Real Property law on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Little Bear Development Center Conference Room. The public meeting will conclude when all public comments have been received. Please arrive to the public meeting either in person o by 10:00 a.m. if you plan to submit oral comments.
• Written comments on the proposed new rules for the Real Property law can be submitted to Land Management through Wednesday, October 16, 2024, to the the P.O. Box 365, Oneida, WI 54155 or  through email to nrommel@oneidanation.org.

Community Outreach Events

The LOC holds community outreach events in an effort to collect thoughts and ideas from the community at the beginning of the legislative process. When the LOC feels that the community may have a particular interest in proposed legislation these events are held in addition to the formal public meetings required by the Legislative Procedures Act.

December LOC Community Meeting: Marijuana Law, Short Term Rental Law, and Board, Committee, and Commissions Law Amendments

• The LOC will be holding a community meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Norbert Hill Center’s cafeteria.
• Topics to be discussed during this community meeting will include the development of the following legislation for the Nation: Marijuana Law, Short Term Rental Law, and Boards, Committees, and Commissions Law Amendments.
• The LOC encourages everyone to come participate in the legislative process by providing comments, suggestions, and questions that the LOC can consider and utilize in the development of these new laws for the Nation
