Public Meetings

Current Public Meetings & Open Public Comment Periods

In accordance with the Legislative Procedures Act, the Legislative Operating Committee is required to host a public meeting and open a public comment period on each proposal to adopt, amend, or repeal an Oneida law or policy.

Oneida Nation Law Enforcement Ordinance Amendments and Landlord Tenant Law Amendments

  • A public meeting for the proposed amendments to the Oneida Nation Law Enforcement Ordinance and the Landlord Tenant law will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. in the Norbert Hill Center’s Business Committee conference room. Please arrive by 12:15 p.m. if you plan to submit oral comments. Individuals may also access the public meeting through Microsoft Teams.
  • Written comments on the proposed amendments to the Oneida Nation Law Enforcement Ordinance and the Landlord Tenant law can be submitted through Friday, March 21, 2025, to the Office of the Nation’s Secretary or the Legislative Reference Office in person, or by U.S. mail, interoffice mail, e-mail or fax. Written comments can be submitted through email to the LOC at LOC@oneidanation.org.

Community Outreach Events

The LOC holds community outreach events in an effort to collect thoughts and ideas from the community at the beginning of the legislative process. When the LOC feels that the community may have a particular interest in proposed legislation these events are held in addition to the formal public meetings required by the Legislative Procedures Act.

SPRING LOC Community Meeting: Elder Protection Law; Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping Law Amendments; and Indian Preference in Contracting Law Amendments

  • The LOC will be holding a community meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Norbert Hill Center’s cafeteria.
  • Topics to be discussed during this community meeting will include the development of the following legislation for the Nation: Elder Protection law, Hunting, Fishing and Trapping law amendments, and Indian Preference in Contracting law amendments.
  • The LOC encourages everyone to come participate in the legislative process by providing comments, suggestions, and questions that the LOC can consider and utilize in the development of these new laws for the Nation
