What can Oneida Nation Child Support do differently than County Child Support Agencies?
- Oneida does not charge interest on arrears. (Arrears accrued prior to case transfer are still owed).
- Oneida does not charge an annual receipt and disbursement fee.
- Oneida case managers have smaller caseloads than state case managers.
- Oneida reviews child support cases every 2 years and not every 3 years as the states.
- Oneida can offer families the option of child support including non-cash payments or in-kind support

Locate
The Child Support Agency has many tools to find the non-custodial parent. If he or she is in another state, the Child Support Program can access other state and national databases to help find the parent.
Important information that could help us locate the other parent:
- Full name and other names that may be used
- Last known address and phone number
- Last known work address, phone number, and the kind of work they do/did
- Social Security Number
- Birth Date
- Mother’s maiden name
- Relatives’ names and addresses
- Whether the parent has any children by another person, and where they live
- Whether the parent belongs to a union, a social club or sports club, or other memberships and activities
- Whether the parent has a driver’s license from Wisconsin or another state
- Whether the parent owns a vehicle, and it is registered in Wisconsin
- The license plate number of the parent’s car
It is important to present any records you may have. Records that are helpful include birth certificates, marriage certificate or divorce papers. Any financial information will also help, including bank accounts, copies of stocks, bonds, pension information, tax filings, and insurance papers. The more information you can present, the easier it will be to locate the parent. Once he or she is found, the process for child support continues.

Other Ways to Pay Your Wisconsin Child Support Obligations
Paternity Establishment
Paternity establishment is the legal term for determining the father of the child. If the parents were married when the child was born, the husband is the legal father noted on the child’s birth certificate.
Genetic Testing
If a father does not agree that the child is his, a genetic test must be done. This simple test can be done with a small sample of saliva. Either parent may request the test. Or, it can be required by child support or ordered by the court. Both parents and the child must be tested. After all three parties have been tested, results usually come back within two weeks.
Voluntary Paternity Acknowledgement
If the father agrees that he is the father, both parents may complete a Voluntary Paternity Acknowledgement form.
Court-Ordered Paternity
Paternity can be established by a court order if a party refuses to be tested.
Support Orders
The purpose of establishing child support orders is to determine how much money each parent should contribute for the care of the child.
Stipulation
Factors to think about when stipulating an agreement for a child support order:
- Placement – Where the child lives
- Visitation – Which nights of the week does the child stay with each parent
- Custody – Who makes decisions on health care, school, etc.
- Child Support Obligation – Calculated based on placement and visitation
- Arrearage – Unpaid child support
- Past Due Support – Date of application or date of review
- Health Care – Who carries insurance and who pays unpaid health costs
- Tax Deduction – Refers to IRS Guidelines but can be addressed in court order for tax purposes of who can claim child in that fiscal year
Modify Child Support Orders
- Child Support Orders can be modified anytime there is a significant change in the family situation. Please contact the Oneida Family Court for instructions on how to file a motion.
- Oneida Family Court – (920) 496-7200
Change In Custody
- If the custody and/or placement of the child changes, the order should be changed to make sure the custodial parent is receiving child support
Change In Employment
- If changes in your employment occur, the child support could be modified to reflect the non-custodial parent’s ability to pay
Reporting Changes
- Changes should be made within 10 days
Case Reviews Every 24 Months
- Oneida Nation Child Support will review cases every 24 months
