Donation Garden
Thanks to the help of Blooming Prairie we acquired a $3,375 grant that allowed us to buy supplies and develop a donation and education garden directly across the street from the Pantry. We named it our Purple Garden. The garden is maintained by staff, summer youth workers, and volunteer power. The main objective is to bring fresh nutritious locally grown produce to our clients table. Everything that comes from the garden is counted, weighed, and distributed to our clientele. We want to include as much language and culture into our garden as possible.
In the spring of 2020 we will be holding a “Who has the best purple garden” photo contest. The pantry will provide the community with seeds and plant information trading cards on 5 different vegetables that can be directly seeded. Prizes to be TBD.
