General Assistance (GA)
A program to assist with shelter costs (rent and utilities) while waiting for determination of Social Security Disability Benefits. GA Funding is limited and is from the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Self Governance Program, services are subject to funding availability.
Eligibility: Must be enrolled Native American residing on tax free land (within Oneida Reservation boundaries). Household income must not exceed the monthly grant amount.
Description: To provide General Assistance cash grant to individuals that currently have a pending Social Security Disability Benefits Application that reside on tax free land to assist with shelter (rent and utilities) cost.
How to apply: May apply in person at Economic Support Services or by submitting a completed General Assistance Application to the agency. Applicants must also have the GA App tax free land status form completed.
