History

Public Works was originally part of the Development Division in the 1990’s. Development consisted of 20 separate departments including the Department of Public Works (DPW) and underwent restructuring several times. In 2012, the Operations Division was formed with the Department of Public Works and Land Management. In 2016, the Wastewater Treatment operations were added to DPW, and in 2017, the Operations Division became the Division of Public Works. The Development Division and Housing were added to Public Works in 2020. Housing would only stay with Public Works for two years and separated to form the Comprehensive Housing Division.
