Layukwilakéhte? (He Carries the Arrows) Nicholas Metoxen is a cultural heritage professional currently serving as the Turtle Clan Manager for Oneida Cultural Heritage. In this role, he supervises the Oneida Nation Museum, Oneida Community Library, Green Earth Branch Library, Oneida Nation Arts Program, and the Oneida Tribal Historic Preservation Officer. Nicholas is committed to educating the Oneida community and surrounding areas about Lotinuhsyu·ní traditions, ceremonies, and cultural information. He also organizes cultural events and serves as a cultural contact for various committees and task forces, ensuring that Oneida culture is incorporated across the nation. 

Before his current role, Nicholas was the Coordinator of Indigenous Student Support and Wellness at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. There, he supported indigenous students by connecting them to essential resources, identifying and addressing policy issues, and creating inclusive cultural workshops. His efforts extended to financial aid collaboration with tribal higher education departments and serving on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation committee. Nicholas’s dedication to student support was also evident in his previous roles as a Physical Education Teacher at Oneida Nation High School and a Student Advocate for the Yethiy?atanúnha Program, where he developed culturally relevant curricula and facilitated growth-oriented activities for Oneida youth. 

Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish Language from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. His commitment to community advocacy is highlighted through his coaching roles, particularly as the Head Wrestling Coach for Team Wisconsin at the North American Indigenous Games, where he led his team to a championship victory. Additionally, Nicholas is also the head high school wrestling coach for the Oneida Nation, training indigenous youth in athletic fundamentals, character building, and stress management skills. His educational background and coaching experience underscore his dedication to fostering growth and resilience within the indigenous community.
