Tina Jorgensen, M.S., has served the Nation and community for over 30 years. She is an Oneida enrolled tribal member and belongs to the Wolf Clan. Her Oneida name is Kahántí?tha which means, “She is in front.”
Tina holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology emphasizing in Nutritional Science and became the first enrolled Oneida tribal member to credential as a Registered Dietitian. She then pursued a Master of Science in Health Promotion Management. During her tenure with Oneida Comprehensive Health Division, she is proud of many accomplishments.
In 1996, Tina implemented the first tribal outstation in the state of WI. This would allow determination of Medicaid Healthy Start eligibility for pregnant women in the clinic.
In 2007, Tina implemented a wellness coaching program known as, Twatakalitats (We Make Ourselves Healthy). The program required an Oneida Community Health Center physician referral for patients in need of lifestyle change to improve health and quality of life.
In 2009, Tina was the recipient of the Health Promotion Disease Prevention (HPDP) Cooperative Agreement to evaluate the effects wellness coaching and group education have on risk factors for diseases such as diabetes, in addition to lifestyle change sustainability. This lead to her being recognized by Indian Health Service for the National Health Promotion Disease Prevention 2009 Exceptional Performance Award.
In 2010, Tina became the recipient of the SDPI-DPP Demonstration Cooperative Agreement. This was the start of the Diabetes Prevention Program.
In 2011, Tina created the Oneida Wellness Council. The Council was successful in implementing a Tribal Resolution for Wellness. After 4 years of dedication and commitment to employee wellness, the Council was able to implement the Exercise at Work resolution in 2017.
On March 16, 2020, Tina started in her current position as Human Services Division Director. She strives for excellent customer service, successful outcomes, and data driven decision making. She is proud of her team and their accomplishments!
In her spare time, Tina enjoys camping, watching the Packers play, and traveling all over the Caribbean. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Shawn. They have 2 daughters, Nicole and Erika, 1 son, Drew, a daughter-in-law, Kaisa, a grandson, Kaden, and 2 sassy cats, Pixie and Zoee. Now that they are empty nesters, they love spending every Sunday cooking for the week.
