Energy Team
Who We Are
The Oneida Nation Energy Team is dedicated to meeting the energy management needs of our community—from addressing challenges to identifying opportunities—with a long-range vision for the future. Our mission is to develop and implement a comprehensive Strategic Energy Plan, providing guideposts for the Nation toward long-term resilience, independence, and conservation goals. With this plan as our compass, we hope to lead our community toward a future driven by innovation and environmental responsibility.

Midwest Tribal Energy Resources Association (MTERA)
In 2014, MTERA was established by founding Members of the Oneida Nation, Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and Ho-Chunk Nation. This Inter-Tribal Energy Network was created to assist Midwest Tribes with energy planning, capacity building, access to funding, and project development.
Over the past ten years, MTERA has been steadfast in its mission, welcoming 32 Member Tribes to the network and providing each with tailored assistance that aligns with their understanding and capabilities related to energy issues.

MISSION:
Collaboration in Action
MTERA Member Tribes play a crucial role in shaping MTERA’s vision for the future. Most recently, Oneida and seven other Tribes contributed to developing MTERA’s Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP). This initial document analyzed energy consumption and carbon data to determine and identify priority measures that would have the greatest impact on carbon emissions. The next phase is the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP), which will provide a more detailed discussion of carbon emissions and the Tribal efforts to reduce those emissions. The CCAP is currently under review.
By sharing their energy experiences, objectives, planning efforts, and policy challenges, Oneida, MTERA, and all 27 Member Tribes are collaborating to advance collective progress toward a sustainable energy future. Additionally, MTERA Member Tribes have access to valuable resources, partnership networks, and workforce development and training. These elements play a crucial role in building the skills necessary to maintain a robust, sovereign energy future.
