Kalihwi∙yó – The Good Message (Handsome Lake)

During the Revolutionary War the Six Nations’ territories were totally annihilated. This was a very dark period in our history where alcoholism took root. “Handsome Lake” subsequently became an alcoholic and became deathly sick. In the mist of this the Creator sent the Four Messengers to show him of the changes our people are going to see because of the things that came across the ocean. In this class you will learn about the cultural differences, the social changes and the revitalization of Tsiˀ Niyukwalihó∙tʌ.
