Councilwoman Cornelius to resign

At the May 10th Business Committee meeting, the Oneida Business Committee accepted the resignation of Councilwoman Marie Cornelius that will be effective June 2, 2023.

On behalf of the Oneida Nation, the Business Committee would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Councilwoman for her outstanding service and dedication to our community during her term on the Oneida Business Committee. Marie’s efforts have made a significant impact on the Oneida Nation and the lives of our tribal citizens.

Marie’s leadership in carrying out her responsibilities during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and her advocacy with the House Select Committee on Equity, Governor’s Council on Inclusion & Equity, WI Department of Transportation and the Intertribal Task Force (ITTF) and Tribal Labor Advisory Committee, and our local neighborhood associations, have been instrumental in driving positive change and progress for the Nation. Her engagement on the local, state, and federal arenas fostered strong relationships and collaboration, resulting in innovative solutions to complex challenges that we face.

As Marie moves on from her role as an elected official, we thank her for her dedication and service to the Oneida people and encourage her to continue walking with a good mind, a good heart, and a strong fire in her future endeavors.
