(Oneida Reservation) – The Oneida Casino is proud to announce it is one step closer to bringing legalized sports wagering to Wisconsin – among the first Tribal Nations to successfully execute a gaming compact amendment to permit sports wagering.
Chairman Tehassi Hill and Governor Tony Evers signed an amendment to the Oneida Nation Gaming Compact today to add sports wagering to the scope of games that are eligible to be offered by the Oneida Casino. Chairman Hill, the Oneida Business Committee, and Oneida Casino leadership hosted Governor Tony Evers for a signing ceremony at the Oneida Casino.
Louise Cornelius, Oneida Casino General Manager, expressed excitement to launch sports wagering and said, “We anticipate sports wagering will bring new customers who have an interest in legal sports wagering and will offer new gaming opportunities to our existing customers.”
The Oneida Casino is hopeful to be operational by the start of the regular football season and will offer sports betting using kiosks and retail stations with mobile wagering available at select Oneida owned properties. Oneida Casino plans to set up a temporary location for the offering of sports wagering while construction is underway for the permanent sports betting lounge. Both the temporary and permanent locations will be at the Oneida Main Casino where the Sports Bar is currently located.
The next steps for Oneida and the State are to seek approval of the compact amendment from the U.S. Department of the Interior – which can take up to 45 days.
