Community Update Regarding Coronavirus or COVID-19

General Pressroom Blog

The Oneida Nation Business Committee continues to meet with Oneida health care officials, and divisional administrators to keep our operations informed and updated. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as needed. It’s important that we communicate the fact that we are treating this as serious threats to our community, most vulnerable are our elders, infants and those with existing health conditions. The Oneida Nation strives to maintain clean facilities at all times.

It is not our intent to cause a panic, it is our intent to raise the awareness of keeping our community healthy and safe. The Oneida Nation has many large congregations of employees and community members that could be impacted by communicable diseases and afflictions if we don’t take precautions to maintain a healthy environment.

Some of the measures in place are listed below. During this flu season, we have increased our diligent cleaning practices.

  • Increase in custodial wipe downs throughout the Oneida Nation.
  • Limit visiting to Nursing home.
  • Provide hand sanitizers throughout casino, Nursing home, Health Center, main offices, (This is standard but we are noticing an increase in use)
  • Provide update to all Oneida Nation top managers to encourage increase awareness, more diligent cleaning and signs to remind people to wash their hands.
  • School education of students and parents, keep children home if they are sick.
  • Employees, stay home if you are sick.
  • Employees in Retail areas keeping sanitizers full and more accessible.
  • Our Comprehensive Health officials continue to monitor the issue through their nation and state-wide networks.
  • Our Emergency Management is prepared to assist if necessary.

We encourage everyone to be mindful of our environment and be diligent about personal cleanliness. Keep your work-space clean and also wash your hand often.
