Melchert, Annette Marie (Cornelius)

Annette Marie (Cornelius) Melchert began her journey to the spirit world on Sunday, April 15, 2018 surrounded by her friends at Manor Care Nursing Home. Annette was born on May 18, 1959 to the late Kenneth G. and Elaine Sylvia (Webster) Cornelius. She attended West De Pere High School and on November 4, 1978 she was united in marriage to Herman J. Melchert.

Annette lived life the way she wanted, full of fun and mayhem. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and great aunt. She loved gambling, playing cards and board games, putting puzzles together and when she was younger camping with her mom and dad. Annette dedicated 11 years of her career to serving the Oneida Nation in a variety of jobs including Accounting Supervisor, Retail Management, Slot Technician, retiring in 2004. She also had a great sense of humor, she enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh.

Annette is survived by her siblings, Pat (Stanley) Moore, Kenneth Jr. (Darlene) Cornelius, Barbara J. Cornelius, Alan B. (Elaine) Cornelius and Cheryl A. Cornelius. She is further survived by her great-nieces, Santierra, Secquoia, and Tamiaya. Annette leaves behind nieces and nephews, her step children, Laurie, John, Milton, Charlotte and Loretta; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Herman J. Melchert; her parents, Kenneth & Elaine Cornelius; siblings, Harvey, Sylvia, Karen, Geraldine, Darlene, Pamela and two infant brothers and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (N6135 Seminary Road, Oneida, WI), Monday, April 23, 2018 from 9AM to 11AM. The Oneida Singers will begin at 10:30 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds.

Annette’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the DaVita Dialysis Center for their excellent care, and also their thanks and gratitude for the kind and caring services of the Staff at Manor Care Nursing Home, Prevea Heart and Vascular Clinic, Oneida Health Center, and Dr. Michael Flood. A very special thank you to her friends Edwina Jorgenson and Jackie Danforth, who were with her when she passed. Thank you Jackie for holding our dear sister tightly in your arms while she departed this world and started her spiritual journey.
