Safe Care Pathway
National Suicide Prevention Month serves as a vital reminder that mental health struggles are real, common, and, most importantly, treatable. For individuals facing substance use disorders, anxiety, depression or overwhelming circumstances, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness can feel unbearable. At Oneida Behavioral Health (OBH), our Safe Care Pathway is more than a service; it is a lifeline.
Safe Care Pathway is designed to identify individuals who may be at risk of suicide and provide immediate, compassionate guidance. OBH providers work one-on-one with participants to develop personalized safety plans that include practical steps to reduce harm. This involves limiting access to lethal items and putting in place various supports to create space between a person and any harmful thoughts.
OBH aims to go beyond crisis prevention by fostering connection. Through regular provider check-ins and engagement in peer-led support, participants are reminded that they are not alone. Having a solid foundation of community from those traveling a similar path creates a sense of shared strength and understanding.
When someone is thinking of self-harm, reaching out can feel like the hardest step β but it is also the most powerful step one can take. Our team is here to meet clients where they are, offering ongoing support when itβs needed the most.
