2026 General Election Caucus: What You Need to Know

The Oneida Nation Election Board invites enrolled Tribal Members to participate in the 2026 General Election Caucus, an important step in the tribal election process. The caucus provides an opportunity for community members to nominate eligible candidates for elected offices, boards, committees, and commissions that serve the Nation.

Participation in the caucus helps ensure a strong, representative ballot and allows Tribal Members to take part directly in shaping future leadership.

  • Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.
  • Location:
    Business Committee Conference Room (2nd Floor)
    Norbert Hill Center

To participate in the caucus, individuals must be enrolled members of the Oneida Nation and 18 years of age or older.


What to Expect at the Caucus

During the caucus:

  • Tribal Members may nominate eligible individuals for available positions.
  • Nominees must be present at the caucus to accept or decline a nomination.
  • Individuals who are not nominated at the caucus may still seek placement on the ballot by completing the application and petition process.

Election Board staff will guide participants through the process and ensure nominations proceed in an orderly and accessible manner.


Filing for the Ballot

Whether nominated at the caucus or petitioning independently, all prospective candidates are required to:

  • Complete a separate application for each position
  • Submit all required documentation to demonstrate qualifications
  • Deliver application materials in person to the Government Administrative Office

Application Deadline:
Friday, April 17, 2026, by 4:30 p.m.
No mailed, electronic, or internal Nation mail submissions will be accepted.

Applications are date- and time-stamped, and ballot placement is determined accordingly.

  • Oneida Business Committee
  • Oneida Election Board
  • Boards, Committees, and Commissions
  • Judiciary (Trial Court and Court of Appeals)
  • Oneida Nation School Board
