Hoyan (happy new year) to you and your family. The new year is a great time to review your child’s school attendance. School attendance is correlated with the ability to read on grade level by 3rd grade. Missing just two days per month consistently over the course of a 9-month school year results in chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of the school year is chronic absenteeism). Prioritizing school attendance is so important. We need your help to ensure our Oneida kids are on the right track to becoming proficient readers. Kids who are not in school miss out on critical reading instruction. Please help prioritize school attendance in your household through setting the expectation for strong attendance.
