The Oneida Nation presented the Town of Oneida Volunteer Fire Department with a check totaling $88,699.42 to assist with the purchase of a new fire truck. The Oneida Nation used Self Governance funds to make the payment.
“The Oneida Nation appreciates the Town of Oneida for their fire protection and their volunteers,” Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill said. “The Oneida Nation and the Town of Oneida have continued to enjoy a relationship of mutual respect. The Nation understands the importance of having proper fire protection equipment including adequate firefighting vehicles to ensure the Nation’s people and resources are protected. The Nation does not have its own fire department and relies on the Town of Oneida and others to provide that protection to our nation and our citizens.”
