Josefa Ruiz Skenadore, 90, of Oneida and formerly of Green Bay fulfilled her journey on earth and joined her husband Warren on August 3, 2017. The daughter of the late Joseph Barker and Adela Ruiz was born February 9, 1927 in Taylor, Texas and moved to the Green Bay area in her late teens.
When Josefa moved to Green Bay there were few Hispanics in the area. She made a point of welcoming Hispanics to the community and continued to be involved with Hispanics at St. Willebrord’s for many years.
When she was young, Josefa was athletic and a great dancer. She was a talented seamstress, excellent cook and gardener who worked many years in retail.
She was a caring neighbor, and a friend to all who knew her. She welcomed people into her home with a warm meal and an open heart. She taught her children to be self-sufficient, show respect and compassion to others. Josefa played a very important role in her grandchildren’s lives, supporting them with unconditional love.
Josefa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma. She will be sadly missed by her sister Adela Trevino, daughters Christine Klimmek, Sandra Skenadore, and Kathe (Randy) Cornelius; her grandchildren Yvette (Mark) Roller, Sidney (Emma) White, Oakley Arnold, Fawn (Louis) Cottrell and Krysta Klimmek; great-grandchildren Henry, Louis and Charlotte Roller, Gavin, Elise, and Josalyn White, Ruby, Katlyn, Marcus, and Josie Arnold, Evelyn Dessart, Deja Vieau, Cade Chloe, and Cameron Cottrell and many nieces and nephews in Wisconsin and Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her parents, daughter Lisa, brothers Juan and Antonio Peche, and sisters Lupe Peche Heinrich and Felice Peche Menchaca.
