Domencich, Donald Francis
Donald Francis Domencich, 81, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at his home on June 27, 2017. He was born February 18, 1936 in West Allis, to Anthony and Dorothy (Sheahan) Domencich.
Don graduated from Ripon College as a member of the R.O.T.C. program and then served his country in the U.S. Army. He continued his education doing graduate work at Purdue University. From 1964 to 1992, he taught chemistry at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. He was very proud of having served as president of the American Chemical Society. Don also worked for a number of years as a chemist for the DNR.
After college, he married Loretta House in Oneida. After they divorced, he married Donna Huff in West Bend on May 27, 1978. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2012. He and Donna retired to Door County in 2000 where he enjoyed bowling, doing crossword puzzles and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Sturgeon Bay. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his two children, Rae (David) Skenandore, Green Bay; Anthony (Jodi) Domencich, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Zachary (fiancé Jenn Fry) Schrap and Eva Domencich; two brothers, Tom (Nephele) Domencich; Jon (Sue Ellen) Domencich; a sister Susan (Frank) Dolinar; in-laws, Roy Huff and family; daughter-in-law Lois Domencich. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna and son Lee Domencich.
