Vernon J. Skenandore Sr., 83, Oneida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday morning June 8, 2017 at his home. He was born April 7, 1934 to the late William and Florence (Metoxen) Skenandore. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a medic. Vernon was united in marriage to Violet (Skenandore) Williams, and she preceded him in death in 2002. He retired from the shipyards in Sturgeon Bay, where he worked as a welder for many years.
Vernon had many different enjoyments, among those were going to Pamperin Park with his wife, collecting unusual and unique clocks, but his greatest was time spent with his family.
He is survived by his children; Robin Doyen, Matilda Godfrey, Christiana Skenandore, Lila (Randy) Denny, Viola Skenandore, and Vernon J. Skenandore Jr. Vernon is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, his 5 siblings, as well as members of Violets family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one grandson Sonny, as well as his nephew Jamie “Chief” Williams.
Funeral service was held at Oneida Methodist Church, with military rites. RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere assisted the family.
