Hill, Ranger Murray

Ranger Murray Hill passed away peacefully Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Unity Hospital, Minneapolis. Ranger was born January 23, 1942, a member of the Oneida Nation, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to the late Ainsley Hill and WIlmae (Sickles) Hill Plahmer of Stevens Point, Wisc.

He voluntarily entered the Marine Corp 1959-1962, serving four years overseas in Japan and Okinawa. He was onboard ship during the blockade of the Soviet missiles into Cuba in 1962. He was honorably discharged and began work at Soo Line Railroad in Stevens Point.

His hobby of woodworking became a full time job after retiring from the Soo Line. Cabinet-making was a particular skill of his which many friends and family utilized over the next 25 years. The last six months of his life was spent cheerfully making cremation urns for all his friends and in his neighborhood, as well as for himself and his children. Always helping out friends in need, his quiet and gentle sense of humor was appreciated by family and friends alike.

He is survived by his children, Colleen Raemisch (Rick) of Colorado Springs, Andrea Johnston (Bob) of North Bend, WA, and Ryan Hill of Duluth, MN., granddaughters Blake and Devan Raemisch. Extended family: Sherry Lang, Cindy Christensen, and Melissa Lund. Surviving are also sisters Caroline Jackson, Anita Hetzel (Dick), Karen Rusch, Sandy Furo, Deb Pilon (Dan), brother Gary Plahmer (Donna), niece Patti Weidman (Tom), and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy, as well as his sisters Carita Butler (Jim), Irene John (Val), and brother Leroy Hill (Janet).
