The Oneida Police Department (OPD) places a high priority on public safety. They are committed to helping build a stronger, safer community through police protection and service while instilling a sense of unity and treating all with respect, dignity, and compassion.

The OPD webpage has information that can help people direct people to various resources. There are numbers to report child abuse/neglect, domestic violence helpline, and a public tip line on this Helpline webpage. However, prevention is a key component for overall public safety.

Officer Latsiklanunha Hill, OPD’s Community Resource Officer is eager to begin training that will help him breathe some life back into several community orientated programs, like; Citizens Police Academy and the Explorer’s Program.

He also informed us about some Neighborhood Watch Programs that have begun at the Falling Leaf (site 2) community center. Anyone wanting to start a neighborhood watch are asked to contact the Community Resource Officer L. Hill 920-869-2239 or email lhill12@oneidanation.org. Officer Hill encourages all Oneida citizens to attend any of these programs and get involved in making our community a safer place for all residents.

We asked Officer Hill to provide public safety tips we could share with the reservation community. The following is a list of tips that all Oneida citizens can use to protect your home, vehicle, and your person.

  • If you have sliding doors or windows use extra security by cutting a piece of wood and
placing it along the bottom of the frame to prevent the door from being slid open.
