Rita R. Doxtater, age 78, of Oneida began her journey into the Creator’s land on October 1, 2016 surrounded by her family. Rita was born February 3, 1938 to the late Hattie and James Schuyler.
On September 3, 1955 Rita was united in marriage to Arthur Webster Jr. at Oneida Methodist Church. Together they were blessed with eleven (11) children and dedicated their lives in raising their family with Christian values of love and respect. Rita is survived by: Julie (Brian) Denny, Melvin (Lori) Webster, Jeanne Webster, Janet (Dave) Danforth, Joanne Ventura, Jacqueline (Bill) Rice, Kool Karl Webster, Judith Webster, Jeff (Jackie) Webster, Bill Webster (Shellyrae Stevens), daughter-in-law, Rosalind Webster . After 51 years of marriage, Arthur preceded her in death on June 29th, 2006.
Rita dedicated her life to serving her God and served in many leadership roles at Oneida Methodist Church. She belonged to the Oneida Women’s Group, volunteered as Sunday school teacher, superintendent, taught and organized many summer vacation bible school classes and she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her greatest joys later in life was singing with sisters and tending to her beautiful gardens at home. Throughout her life Rita opened her doors to many children who needed guidance and served as host to many families from other countries.
Rita is further survived by 31 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, her godson, Myron Smith Jr, . and was preceded in death by a son, John Webster; 3 grandchildren: Joshua Webster, Imaysheia and Joseph Crumble.
Rita had a special place in her heart for all her siblings: Pearl McLester, Mary (Nick) Metoxen, Eva Danforth, Evelyn Elm, Harriet Reiter and Cleo (Wayne) Cornelius. Rita was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Denny and brothers, Lester & Joe Schuyler. Rita is survived by many in-laws who brought great joy into her life.
In Rita’s final chapter in life she married Ronald Doxtater on September 15, 2012 at Oneida Methodist Church. Together they enjoyed spending time together with family and friends. Rita is further survived by Reginald (Jean) Doxtater, Wayne (Cheryl) Doxtater, Marcy Doxtater, Barbara (Mike) Mendolla, Yvonne (Bruce) Jordan, Faye Linda (Robert) Anderson, Constance Doxtater, step-son Ronald (Karen) Doxtater. She was preceded in death, by Leroy, Archie, Danny Doxtater, and Shirlyn Doxtater.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Oneida Methodist Church from 4pm till 8pm. Oneida Singers will sing at 6:30 pm, prayer service at 7pm.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 9am until service which starts at 11am at the Oneida Methodist Church. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
