Heku Swakweku,
The Oneida Nation leadership and professional experts in Administration, Emergency Management, Comprehensive Health, and Oneida businesses have been working to address the needs and concerns of our community. Our goal is to stop the spread of the virus by invoking emergency policy, restrictions, and by implementing our emergency plans in each division. Oneida’s 250 departments and businesses have all activated their emergency management plans.
We want to assure you that we are very aware there are still questions among you about what has taken place to date and what lies ahead. We truly understand how important it is to each of our community members to understand what actions are being taken to diminish all direct financial and medical impacts to our people. Many employees continue to work and meet the needs our community. We encourage you to show support and appreciation for every dedicated employee and volunteers.
The situation surrounding the COVID-19 changes daily and even hourly. Change is often unsettling, and in some cases, it’s frightening when we don’t understand.
Many people want to know, “What is the PLAN?” The Oneida Nation Emergency Plan is a process. This process encompasses all our programs, services and businesses and requires invoking their plans to address this pandemic fiscally and physically. We have implemented these plans which called for restrictions and closures as well as adjustments to how services can continue while keeping everyone as safe as possible.
Our source of official and accurate information is our website and social media and our email. You may continue to access COVID-19@oneidanation.org or call (920) 869-4481. Questions received are being responded to as soon and as quickly as possible. We encourage everyone to share the information we post.
Our community has faced many challenges throughout our history. The 5 arrows on our flag bind us together and should remind us we are stronger when we work together as one. We continue to encourage our “Prayer Warriors” to join together and pray for strength, health and the wisdom to come to good minds.
