Geraldine L. (Smith) Parker, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday February 3, 2017 at Bishop Court Nursing Home where she resided the last 6-7 months. She was a member of Church of the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Oneida. Geri was born in Milwaukee and as a small child resided there for a short time. She then moved to Oneida with her mother Verna and brother Nathan and lived with her grandparents Mose and Delia (Webster) Elm. Geri graduated from West De Pere High School, and later graduated from Haskel College in Lawrence Kansas. After graduating she moved back to Oneida and met and married Russell Parker. They both moved to Milwaukee where is worked for 30 years at Cunio Press as a private secretary. She later worked for Milwaukee School of Engineering and the Boston Store. They raised their family and resided there for most of their lives. Geri moved back to Oneida after her husband passed and lived there until she moved to Bishop Court.
Geri is survived by her brother, Nathan (Carol) Smith, her daughter, Claudette Skaradzinski, and her son Jeffrey Parker. Geri is further survived by 3 grandchildren, Jessie, Roxanne, and Shiann, as well as 5 great grandchildren. Her sister in law Leatrice Powless and brother in law Andrew Parker Jr., as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews (especially Kent and Blake Smith) survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years; Russell Parker, her sister Lavon Smith, her parents Sheldon and Verna (Elm) Smith, and Mose and Delia Elm.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street , De Pere from 4:00PM – 7:00PM Monday February 6, 2017. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 6:30PM followed by a parish prayer service at 7:00PM.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Church of the Holy Apostles, Oneida after 12:00PM. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 1:30PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00PM with The Rev. Rodger L. Patience, Vicar officiating. Following Mass, burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Special thanks to all the staff at Bishop Court for all their help and excellent care while she resided there. Thanks also to granddaughter Jessie Skaradzinski for the care of her Grandmother before she had to go to the nursing home.
