Richard “Dickie” Cornelius, age 70, of Oneida, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born December 24, 1945 in Two Rivers, WI, son of the late Morris Cornelius and Nellie (Metoxen) Acheson.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed NASCAR, cheering on the Packers and listening to country music. He was a kind hearted man who was always willing to help friends and family in need.

Richard is survived by his 3 children: Richard (Ana), Kevin, and Vicki Cornelius; 15 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 5 siblings: Gloria, Wayne (Brenda), Jerry (Debbie), Francis (Henrietta) Cornelius and Janet (Howard) Lien; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a niece, aunts and uncles. A fire will be lit for Richard at his home, Thursday, October 20, 2016. Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 4 to 6 PM. Traditional and religious rites will take place during visiting hours. After services at the funeral home, Richard will be brought to his home for continued visitation. Interment services will begin at Richard’s home, Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10 AM. A procession will travel to Oneida Methodist Cemetery, where interment will take place at 11 AM. Following services at the cemetery, a meal in Richard’s honor will be held at The Parish Hall.

The family is requesting fire keepers to tend the fire and also food donations to be delivered to Parish Hall starting at 9 am on Monday. Food donation questions can be directed to Barb Cornelius at 869-1911. A special thank you to Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice.
