RENO, Nev. (AP) ~ Reno police say arrest warrants have been issued for an 18-year-old man drove a pickup truck into a crowd of protesters rallying in support of Native American rights and two protesters accused of fighting with the driver.
Chief Jason Soto said Thursday night that police were serving a warrant for 18-year-old driver Nicholas Mahaffey for a misdemeanor charge of provoking an assault. Warrants were also issued for 24-year-old James Fletcher and 21-year-old Samuel Harry.
Soto said the men were not in custody Thursday. Police did not return a message Friday seeking an update.
Three protesters were hurt in the Monday night incident, including a 59-year-old woman who was hospitalized with a broken pelvis and hip.
Fletcher and Harry did not have listed phone numbers to reach them for comment. A number listed for Mahaffey would not accept messages.
