(Oneida Reservation) – Today, the citizens of the Oneida Nation elected their council to serve as the Oneida Business Committee until 2029. The Oneida Business Committee is the governing body of the Oneida Nation and the council is elected to serve a three year term. The Business Committee is a nine member full-time paid body that oversees the daily business of the nation.
Re-elected as Chairman is Tehassi Hill, Treasurer, Larry Barton and Secretary Lisa Liggins. Newly elected Vice Chairman is Jameson Wilson. The five council members are incumbents, Jennifer Webster and Jonas Hill and newly elected councilmembers are Aliskwet Ellis, Kristal Hill and Lora Danforth.
Polls for voting were located at the Oneida Community Health Center in Oneida and at the Southeastern Oneida office (SEOTS) in Milwaukee. Voters must be enrolled Oneida and at least 18 years or older.
Other entities had vacancies filled which included the Election Board, Land Claims Commission, Land Commission, Oneida Commission on Aging, School Board, Trust Enrollment Committee, Personnel Commission, and 4 vacancies on the Oneida Judiciary. All results are tentative until they are ratified by the present Business Committee following all requests for challenges having been satisfied.
