The Oneida Community Health Department-Maternal Child Health Services recently held community events. The Maternal Child Health Services Parent group is led and ideas brought to life by parents. We incorporate culture and education while providing a meal for families of all ages. Stay tuned for what exciting group topics are coming in 2026!
Indigenous Doula Pilot Program
Eight indigenous doulas were matched with expecting women who receive OB care at the Oneida Clinic in 2025. Doulas provided support to these families prenatally, during labor and postpartum at no cost thanks to the Maternal Health Innovation Grant. An end of the year gathering was held on Wed. September 24th, 2025, at the Oneida Clinic with all Indigenous Doulas and families that could attend to share their birth experiences and offer feedback. There were many success stories, clients shared how effective and supportive the doulas were. A plan is in place to keep these services sustainable. There will be Indigenous doulas available to pregnant women who receive OB care at Oneida Clinic in 2026. Referrals from Oneida OB nurses and providers are being accepted along with offering doula services to those with high risk factors. Any questions contact Candi Cornelius or Makenit Gutierrez, 920-869-4840.
The Community Baby Shower
Took place on Wed. October 29th, 2025, at Oneida Elementary School in collaboration with other Oneida programs that serve families (Oneida Nutrition/Oneida FACE/Oneida Early HeadStart). All those that received OB care at Oneida Clinic with a 2025 due date were invited to attend. There were 10 moms that showed up to listen to speakers (Culture Heritage & Oneida Nutrition/WIC), play games and visit information booths. Thanks to all who helped plan and helped the event be a success. All moms who attended received a hot meal, game prize and large gift. It was a nice event to welcome the next generation.
