National Mental Health Month

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, serving as an opportune reminder that Mental Health is Health. It impacts everything in our lives, from relationships, performance at work or school to our general well-being, which is why it deserves the same attention as physical health.

Small changes in our everyday life can have a noticeable positive impact on our mental well-being. Prioritizing habits like eight to ten hours of sleep, daily movement or exercise, social connection or dedicating time to mindfulness can all help ease the burden of heavy thoughts.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’ll ask you to do two things. Please prioritize your own mental health, and please help us destigmatize conversations about mental health. Talk to your friends and family. Ask them how they are doing, and let them know how you’re doing. Checking in regularly with yourself, your family and friends can make a world of difference.

If you’re experiencing burnout, anxiety or a general desire to withdrawal from activities that would normally spark joy, your mental health may need some time and attention. Oneida Behavioral Health is here to help. Through services like therapy or our Weekly Wellness Support Group you can find the support you need to enhance your overall wellbeing.
