PROVIDER BIO:
My full name is Binnayseequay (Ojibwe), which means Thunderbird Lady, but people call me Binnay. I was given my name by my Dad’s great-uncle, who was a medicine man. He gave me this name because around the time of my birth, there were thunderstorms, sleet and snow, all weather that the Thunderbird brings. I am Ojibwe and Menominee.
My mom was a Nurse Practitioner at Menominee Tribal Clinic for many years. So, it felt natural for me to go into nursing as well. I have been in various types of nursing for 20 years. I felt that mental health nursing was the best fit for me. I have mainly worked inpatient at a psychiatric hospital.
I enjoy reading, movies, exercise and spending time with family. I have four wonderful children, one of whom has Autism. I am very grateful to the Oneida Nation for giving me the opportunity to work with and serve the Native Community.
