Pelky/Pelkey, Peter James

General

Peter James Pelky/Pelkey, age 61, died in his home in the Town of Oneida on December 12, 2020. He was raised in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, and graduated from Kaukauna High, was an alumni of Fox Valley Technical College, graduated from Concordia University of Wisconsin with his Bachelor of Arts in Management in Criminal Justice, and accomplished his Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security.

He loved helping in the Oneida Community and over the years helped with events at the Oneida Community Library, Green Earth Branch Library, Oneida Cultural Heritage, Oneida Adventures, Oneida Nation School System, and Oneida Environmental, Health, and Safety, as well as other departments and entities. He was part of Ohe·láku – Among the Cornstalks. He felt the love and healing in growing the Oneida White Corn.

Peter worked in both security and surveillance at the Oneida Casino for many years. He had done everything from being a surveillance consultant, short order cook, asphalt, underground utility locating, tree planting, newspaper delivery, ranch hand, and various jobs related to criminal justice that must not or cannot be named.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good find on Craigslist! He was an avid movie goer with both friends and family! He enjoyed rummage sales and flea markets for collecting treasures. He enjoyed the mountains, camping, travel, and spending time in the woods.

Peter was an excellent storyteller and loved a good laugh! Everyone loved his laugh, too, and enjoyed watching his shoulders shake as he did so. He made friends wherever he went and helped people even if they were strangers.

Peter was the beloved husband of Kymberley (Smith) Pelkey; the caring father of Forrest and his partner Jennifer, Eliza and her husband Shawn Skenandore, Jeremiah and his spouse Sophia, Trapper, and Adrianna Pelky; the treasured son of Winnifred and the late James Peter Pelky; the cherished eldest brother of Patricia and her husband Ray Heckner, Patrick and his wife Lisa, the late Penny, Paul and his wife Melody, Kurt and his wife Ellen, Paige and her husband Greg Finkel, Kevin and his wife Jacqueline, Kim and her husband Joseph Cackowski, and Kristal and her husband Chad Hill; the greatest son-in-law to Marvin and Joy Smith; the fellow Skeeter God to brother-in-law and wife introducer Edward Smith; the sensational uncle of many astounding nieces and nephews; the marvelous nephew of many fantastic aunties and uncles; the incredible cousin to a whole lot of incredible cousins; and most importantly, the epic grandpa to the wondrous Amara, Alyssa, Jordan, Ambrose, Nevaeh, Isabelle, Millie, and Lal?nahawi.

Peter was a friend to many, but none as close as Dwight and Eric. He was the earnest Bible student of James Williams. He was a beta reader for his favorite author, his daughter Adrianna.
