A peaceful walk to show solidarity with the people of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation took place this morning with about 200 members of the public as well as students and staff from the Oneida Nation school system participating. “We’re having this walk to raise awareness of the Dakota Access Pipeline situation and show our support for the Standing Rock Sioux tribe first and foremost,” Councilmember and walk organizer Brandon Stevens said. “We also want to energize community efforts (here at home) to make sure we’re being good stewards here on our own reservation.”
